EWA IS TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR THE EDDIE AWARD!

eddy-hat-final
We support the Education Writers Association awarding an annual cash prize (and bowler hat) to the author / producer / originator of a work of journalism that helps to further the national conversation about low-income college completion. The bowler hat is a tribute to our foundation’s benefactor and namesake, Edwin Gould, who, in his lifetime, was often photographed wearing such a cap.

  • First prize: $7,500 and a bowler hat

WE HAVE A WINNER!

There is so much great journalism being done on equity and education. And we had many great stories that were entered into the competition.

We are pleased to say that “Minimally Adequate: How South Carolina’s Education System Fails Students” produced by Seanna Adcox, Paul Bowers, Jennifer Berry Hawes, Thad Moore and Glenn Smith at the Post and Courier is the 2019 Eddie Award Winner.

EGF trustee, Steve Gross, EGF Board chair Mark Beiler, Post and Courier’s Paul Bowers and Seanna Adcox. Far R. Caroline Hendrie, ex. director of EWA.
