What are the requirements for becoming a Gould Partner?
We partner with non-profit organizations that align with our mission: providing rigorous and innovative supplemental education programs to help motivated yet underserved students prepare for, enroll in and graduate from college. We work with non-profits that focus on middle school and high school students who are in the top half of their classes, but have limited academic resources and limited opportunities. Gould Partners play a direct role in helping students from low- and middle-income families better prepare for college and increase their chances of getting a degree and succeeding in the workplace.
Do you fund organizations that work with underserved young people in areas other than education?
No. The Gould Foundation is committed to bridging the achievement gap for middle and high school students in underserved communities, helping them enroll in and graduate from college. We believe that by remaining true to this focus, we can make a more powerful impact.
Do you partner with organizations outside New York City?
We accept applications from non-profit organizations in the New York metropolitan area. By focusing our commitment and resources in and around New York City, the Foundation helps incubate pilot initiatives that could be used as models elsewhere in the country.
What is your typical funding period?
At Gould, we believe that non-profits need long-term funding and partnership to truly implement their innovative ideas. While many foundations provide grants for one- to three-year periods, Gould funding is rarely less than two years and is often for an extended period, providing both operating and program development support.
