Demonstrating Locally

Gould Center for Innovation

“The Gould Center has been hugely important in helping us build capacity and reduce administrative overhead. It provides us with a stimulating work environment and allows us to connect with other people and organizations doing similar work.”

Rhea Wong
Executive Director, Breakthrough New York

The Gould Foundation incubates non-profits and provides financial assistance, shared work and gathering space, and the additional resources a non-profit needs to transform strong ideas into action.

Whether we are assisting a start-up at concept stage or a national organization at local implementation stage, we invite our partners to move into the Gould Innovation Center, where they join a thriving community working for a common purpose. As one of our partners said of the Center, “There’s a wonderful synergy among Gould Partners, and the opportunities for networking and collaboration are constant.”

The Center—replete with workstations, meeting rooms and a large event/conference room—provides non-profits the space they need to expand capacity, train staff, hold board meetings and, ultimately, help more students realize the dream of a better education. Our partners also receive a complete technology and telecommunications platform, maintenance and security. The Center’s approximately 8,000 square feet of space is flexible and adaptable, so non-profit partners can work efficiently and effectively.

Gould Partners receive an array of pro-bono management consulting services, including board development, strategic planning, fundraising, fiscal management and human resources support.

The Gould Innovation Center is located at 55 Exchange Place and is part of the Non-profit and Philanthropy Center in Lower Manhattan, a 100,000-square-foot non-profit center that houses over 15 not-for-profit organizations. The Gould Foundation, along with Tides Foundation, SEO and the Hispanic Federation, developed the property, which earned a LEED Silver certification. 55 Exchange Place is one of 41 New York City buildings to achieve this Green Building rating. The Center sits across the street from the historic New York Stock Exchange and has significantly increased the presence of the not-for-profit sector in the Financial District, contributing to the resurgence of the community surrounding the World Trade Center site. The building is designed to serve those in the non-profit sector who work long hours and thrive on the sense of community and common purpose.
